Dehradun, 18 Sep: District Magistrate Savin Bansal is monitoring several projects at the Coronation District Hospital to ensure their rapid progress and completion. It may be recalled that, after taking over as the new District Magistrate of Dehradun, Savin Bansal had conducted a surprise inspection of the Coronation Hospital and also announced several new facilities and initiatives for it. He had listed the operation of a blood bank by the Hospital and establishment of a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) among his top priorities. Since then, he is regularly monitoring the progress of the project.
In this regard, Bansal today summoned a meeting with the officials of the Health Department, officials of Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Society and officials from the CMO’s office. The meeting is likely to be held soon. In this connection, he has also summoned records and all related files to his office.
The District Magistrate reiterated today that setting up a blood bank and operating a NICU Ward in the District Hospital is the top priority. He said that further decisions in this regard will be taken during the meeting that he has summoned. He also shared that due to increase in the number of medicine distribution counters in the district hospital, the patients and their attendants are feeling relief from the long queues and the rush to pick up the medicines, which was a daily affair.
It may be recalled that, during his inspection, Bansal had noticed a huge rush outside the medicine distribution counters and had directed the hospital administration to install two more counters to distribute the medicines and to also install benches outside the counters so that the patients can be seated. People are now relieved from the queues at the medicine counters. He had also instructed substantial improvement in sanitation arrangements at the hospital, in general, and in the toilets, in particular.
