Gov meets Army, ITBP jawans in Harsil

Uttarkashi, 17 Oct: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) reached Harshil, Uttarkashi, today as per a prescheduled meeting. The Governor met Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel before Diwali at Harsil. During this, the Governor greeted the soldiers and their families for Diwali. He said that service to the country was the highest service, and that he and the army and para military forces here were fortunate to have got an opportunity to serve Uttarakhand, the land of Deities and the sages. He asserted that the people are proud of the soldiers of the country who had been doing their job exceedingly well.

The Governor also referred to the Galwan incident where Indian army officials had defeated Chinese intruders. He asserted that there had been many heroic stories of India’s soldiers, which could make the entire nation proud of them. He also shared his experiences about Harshil and Nelang Valley while interacting with the soldiers. The Governor said that during his service, he had seen Harsil and Nelang very closely.

During the visit, DM Abhishek Ruhela, SP Aparna Yaduvanshi, DFO Puneet Tomar, SDM Chatar Singh Chauhan, CMO Dr. Vinod Kukreti, CHO Dr. Rajneesh Singh and army personnel and other officers were present.
