DEHRADUN, 10 Feb: Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed Commissioner of Kumaon Division Deepak Rawat, to conduct a magisterial inquiry into the incident of violence that occurred in the Banphoolpura area of Haldwani in Nainital district on Thursday. The Kumaon Commissioner has been asked to complete the magisterial inquiry into the violence within 15 days and make his investigation report available to the government as soon as possible.
It may be recalled that six people died and over 300 were injured, including a large number of police officials, municipal officials of Haldwani Nagar Nigam and journalists in the violence that was carried out by members of a particular community against the state, allegedly in protest against the demolition of two illegal structures in a predominantly Muslim area of Banphoolpura in Haldwani city on Thursday.
