CS reviews preparations for upcoming Skill Development & Employment Conference

Dehradun, 24 Sep: Chief Secretary Radha Raturi held a meeting regarding the preparations for the Uttarakhand Skill Development and Employment Conference to be organised by the Planning Department and SETU Commission next month. During the meeting, she directed the officials to connect NITI Aayog, International Labour Organisation (ILO), Institute of Human Development, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, UNDP and UNICEF with this conference which is being organised with the objective of empowering the youth of the state through skill development and to look for solutions regarding their employment challenges along with brainstorming on strategies for inclusive and sustainable development.

The CS also directed the officials to organise a special session at the said conference on employment opportunities abroad for the youth and conducting skill development courses for the youth as per the skill requirements of foreign countries. She also directed them to work on the strategy of conducting courses in foreign languages ​​along with skill development. The Chief Secretary has directed all the related departments to work towards skill development in an integrated manner with effective coordination. She also directed the Forest Department to ensure its participation in skill development and work on an action plan to train local youth as nature guides for the tourists coming to the state for trekking.

Raturi directed the officials to ensure a strong participation of the government departments and institutions, educational institutions, private sector and non-governmental organisations towards imparting skill development and enhancing employment opportunities.

Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Sachin Kurve and officers of the departments concerned were present at the meeting.
