Dehradun, 24 Sep: District Magistrate Savin Bansal today heard the objections received in connection with the delimitation of the Area Panchayat / District Panchayat during a special meeting held in this regard at the Vikas Bhawan, Survey Chowk, here.
The objections were received in relation to the Chakrata, Sahaspur and Raipur Kshetra Panchayats that fall under Chakrata, Sahaspur and Raipur Development Blocks.
It may be recalled that after the general elections, some gram panchayat areas have been included in the urban bodies’ jurisdiction due to expansion of the municipal limits and also due to constitution of some new urban bodies. In addition, some new gram panchayats have also been formed as a result of the reorganisation of gram panchayats in the year 2019. This has necessitated the delimitation of the existing Kshetra and District Panchayat boundaries and wards.
Due to expansion of the municipal boundaries in the district, some gram panchayats have ceased to exist while some additional gram panchayats have also come up. As a result, territorial constituencies in some area panchayats and district panchayats have also been affected. The objections were heard in detail regarding the said delimitation.
On this occasion, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, District Panchayati Raj Officer Vidyadhar Somnal and the local residents of the areas concerned were present.
