Savin Bansal assumes charge as District Magistrate, Dehradun

Dehradun, 5 Sep: Newly appointed District Magistrate Savin Bansal took charge at the District Collectorate here this morning. After taking over as the new DM and taking charge of the treasury double lock, Bansal also listed his priorities in his interaction with the media persons.
He claimed that land fraud cases will be taken seriously and strict action will be taken against those involved in such fraud. It will be his priority to curb land fraud and set an example for others by ensuring strict punishment to those engaged in the activity.
Bansal added that, as a public servant, his effort will be to resolve the problems of the general public on priority and ensure that benefits of the public welfare schemes of the Central and State Government reach the last person in a timely manner. He said that work will be done under the policy of zero tolerance on corruption and crime. For this, strict action will be taken with the cooperation of the departments concerned including the Police. It will also be his effort to ensure better public communication and make Janata Durbars more useful. He will also try to ensure that Tehsil Diwas does not remain a formal occasion for meetings and public engagement but that the people’s problems are really resolved on the spot. The District Magistrate said that he would also work towards improving the traffic system, parking, drainage work in Dehradun but admitted that it was a major challenge. He added that the cooperation of MDDA and the Police would be sought for this.
After taking charge of the treasury double lock, the District Magistrate instructed the Chief Treasury Officer to take special care that senior pensioners do not face any problems. While inspecting the office, he saw the arrangements and instructed the officers/employees to behave politely with the general public and listen to the problems of the complainants seriously and take effective action as per rules towards resolving the problems. He also inspected the office and protocol located in the court premises and observed the work of various departments.
On this occasion, ADM, Administration, Jai Bharat Singh, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Chief Personal Assistant, District Magistrate, Virendra Singh, SDM Hari Giri, Municipal Commissioner Shailendra Singh Negi, SDM, Sadar, Anamika, SDM, Headquarters, Shalini Negi, SDM, Vikasnagar, Vinod Kumar, Chief Treasury Officer Neetu Bhandari were among those present.
It may be recalled that Savin Bansal is considered a strict officer and has previously been DM, Nainital, too. He has an image of not bowing down to political pressure.
