Dehradun, 7 May: Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar, today held a review meeting with top police officers regarding the safe conduct of Char Dham Yatra and issued various instructions through video conferencing with all the zone and district in-charges for the safe completion of Chardham Yatra-2024 and prevention of forest fires.
The DGP directed that foolproof security arrangements should be ensured during the opening of the portals of all the Char Dhams (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri Dhams) and Hemkund Sahib. He said that a large crowd of pilgrims is expected to be present during the opening of the portals at these Dhams.  He also stated that officer in charge of the districts concerned should appoint a welfare officer to regularly look after the travel arrangements and accommodation of the police, home guards and PRD personnel who have been deputed for Char Dham duty.
Kumar said that during the Yatra, regular monitoring of posts/fake news spread on social media should be done and immediate action should be taken to refute the misleading posts as per the SOP issued by the Police Headquarters. All district in-charges should ensure that the turnout, discipline and morale of the police force deployed on duty is maintained at top level during the Yatra.
Forest Fires:
Kumar added that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) prepared by the Police Headquarters need to be fully adhered to for prevention of forest fire incidents. Response time for action on forest fire incidents should be minimal and strictest action should be ensured against those found to be causing forest fire incidents. He asked the officers concerned that such forest ranges where incidents of forest fires are occurring repeatedly should be identified at the earliest and the Police Headquarters informed about them.
Additional Director General of Police Administration Amit Sinha, Additional Director General of Police, Crime and Law and Order AP Anshuman, Inspector General of Police, Security Rajiv Swarup and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Crime and Law and Order P Renuka Devi and other officers were present in the meeting.
