Dhami announces upgradation of PHC in Gauchar

CM inaugurates Gauchar Mela

Gauchar (Chamoli), 14 Nov: The 71st State Industrial Development and Cultural Fair has started on a grand note in Gauchar. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally inaugurated the Fair.

On arrival of the Chief Minister at the inauguration ceremony, he was given a grand welcome with traditional musical instruments and flower garlands. On this occasion, he also announced the upgradation of the Primary Health Centre in Gauchar.

Addressing a huge gathering at the Fair, the Chief Minister said that fairs are like rainbow colours in the lives of the people which fill life with freshness and enthusiasm. In ancient times, when there were no such facilities of communication and transportation, these fairs greatly helped in weaving the social fabric and widened the social circle of the people.

Gauchar Fair is a famous state fair of Uttarakhand. He also praised the district administration for giving a grand and attractive look to the fair.

Dhami said that it is extremely important to strengthen the infrastructure for industrial development. For this, special work is being done to strengthen the road connectivity, rail connectivity, ropeway connectivity, air connectivity and energy and water conservation in the state. The Chardham road project, construction of Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line and ropeway projects under construction in the state are examples of this, he asserted, adding that the state government is ready for the development of the state under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also honoured senior journalist Rajpal Singh Bisht with the Govind Prasad Nautiyal Journalist Award, and the “Vidya Bharati All India Educational Institute, Uttarakhand” with Pandit Maheshanand Nautiyal Education and Literature Promotion Award.

Local MLA Anil Nautiyal and Fair Vice President Anju Bisht welcomed the Chief Minister at the inauguration of the Gauchar Fair. They also informed the Chief Minister about the problems of the area and submitted a letter of demands.

After worshiping Raval Devta on the first day of the fair, school children took out Prabhat Pheri in the morning. Fair President/District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana hoisted the flag and took the salute at the march pass. A cross country race was also organised from Gauchar Mela main gate to Chatvapeepal bridge and back to the main fair gate via the same route.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the fair, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, MP Ajay Tamta, Karnaprayag MLAs Anil Nautiyal, Bhupal Ram Tamta and Bharat Chaudhary, and Ramesh Gadiya, former MLA Munni Devi Shah were also present.
