Dhami directs officials to take effective protective measures against cold wave

Dehradun, 30 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today instructed officials to take effective and all possible measures to protect people against the cold wave in the state. During a review meeting held in this respect at the Secretariat here today, the CM directed that complete vigilance be exercised, ensuring that all necessary facilities are available for those staying in rain shelters in the districts.

He instructed that senior officers, including the District Magistrates and SSPs/SPs, to personally inspect the arrangements at rain shelters regularly. He added that in light of the prevailing cold wave, blankets, gloves, socks, and other essential items should be provided to those in need. People should also be informed through various means about the locations of bonfires arranged at night in the districts.

Dhami emphasised that roads in the state must not remain obstructed for long due to snowfall. In areas with heavy snowfall, proper management of resources must be ensured to clear the roads. He also directed DMs to maintain complete data of pregnant women in their districts to provide timely medical facilities in emergencies. Necessary arrangements should also be made for destitute animals in view of the cold wave. The Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite road construction work in various areas of the state. He also reviewed the arrangements made to protect against the cold wave in different districts.

The Chief Minister directed that eligible persons must benefit from government schemes, and that the DMs must ensure that no one takes advantage of these schemes improperly. He also instructed officials to make all necessary arrangements for the convenience of devotees aiming to visit the winter abodes of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri and their surrounding areas.

For the successful organisation of the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, he stressed on the need for better coordination among departments and individual responsibility.

During the meeting, Secretary of Disaster Management Vinod Kumar Suman shared detailed information through a presentation on the various works being done in the state to counter the cold wave.

Vice Chairman of the State Disaster Management Advisory Committee Vinay Rohila, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, DGP Deepam Seth, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and HoFF, Dhananjay Mohan, Secretaries Dr R Meenakshi Sundaram, Sachin Kurve, Dr Pankaj Kumar Pandey and Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, and all District Magistrates attended the meeting virtually.
