Dehradun, 19 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led a yoga session at his official residence here this morning and was joined by officials and staff from his office on this occasion. While addressing the participants, the CM also appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to make yoga a regular part of their daily lives.

Dhami asserted that yoga is not just a physical activity but a path towards inner peace and self-realisation. He emphasised that yoga plays a vital role in stabilising the mind and diving deeper into one’s consciousness. Underscoring India’s cultural heritage, he noted that the country has always upheld human values, with yoga being a cornerstone of its ancient traditions.

He also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2014 proposal at the United Nations General Assembly to designate a global day for yoga. The proposal was supported by 177 nations, resulting in the declaration of 21 June as International Yoga Day.

Describing Uttarakhand as the land of the yogis and the sages, the CM said that the state government is making continuous efforts to connect people with yoga right up to the village level. He added that initiatives are underway to generate employment opportunities through yoga, and a dedicated yoga policy has been introduced to establish Uttarakhand as a global hub for yoga and wellness.
