Dhami reviews youth sports activities in Champawat

TANAKPUR, 5 Jul: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held an interactive session with school students from across Champawat district under the ‘Bal Samwad’ (Child Dialogue) initiative, conducted via video conferencing from the Tourist Rest House in Tanakpur on Saturday. The engagement was aimed at reviewing the progress of sports-related activities in schools and eliciting suggestions and feedback from young athletes to further strengthen the sports ecosystem.
During the dialogue, the Chief Minister also interacted with Gaurav from Government Inter College Champawat, Preeti from Government Inter College Pati, Kanchan from Government Girls Inter College Tanakpur, Sagar from Government Inter College Chaumel, and Monika from Government Girls Inter College ChampawatDhami sought details about the availability of sports infrastructure, access to training in the educational institutes, and general support available to the student-athletes. The students shared that they are consistently benefitting from the Chief Minister Udiyaman Khiladi Protsahan Yojana, which is playing a pivotal role in nurturing and refining their athletic talents.
Dhami encouraged students to pursue sports with the same dedication as their academic goals, emphasising the role of sports in personality development, discipline, and resilience.
He stated while Uttarakhand is revered as ‘Devbhoomi’ (Land of Gods), it is progressively carving out a distinct identity as ‘Khelbhoomi’ (Land of Sports). Referring to the youth as the torchbearers of ‘Amrit Kaal’, he underscored the importance of discipline, punctuality, and consistent effort in all walks of life.
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to fostering a dynamic sporting environment, Dhami underscored various initiatives undertaken to support youth athletes. He particularly highlighted the significance of the state’s sports policy and schemes like the Udiyaman Khiladi Yojana in ensuring the holistic development of students through structured sports engagement.
The programme witnessed the participation of a large number of students and educators from educational institutions across Champawat, Pati, Chaumel, Tanakpur, and Chamdewal, reflecting the widespread enthusiasm for sports and student welfare in the region.
