DEHRADUN, 5 Jul: With the Monsoon season currently at its peak and the recurring issue of waterlogging across the Dehradun Municipal Corporation areas, District Magistrate Savin Bansal has constituted dedicated Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to tackle the problem proactively. These QRTs, comprised officials from key departments, will operate under the leadership of City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Harigiri, and SDM Kumkum Joshi. They will have a mandate to conduct site inspections, pinpoint causes of water accumulation, and implement remedial measures swiftly to mitigate public inconvenience.
According to the district administration officials, the team under City Magistrate Pratyush Singh includes Chief Municipal Health Officer Avinash Khanna, Executive Engineer (EE) Ashish Bhatt from Jal Sansthan, EE Jitamani Belwal from Peyjal Nigam, and EE Purushottam from the Irrigation Department. This QRT has been tasked with managing waterlogging complaints in key locations such as Prince Chowk, Darshanala Chowk, DL Road Chowk, Saharanpur Chowk, Rajpur Road, Dron Chowk, Johri Road Jakhan, Dalanwala, the Railway Station, 57/16 DL Lane, New OPD Doon, Lakhbagh Chowk, 53F Rajpur Road, Hathi Badkala, Chandar Colony, Doon Vihar Ward-6, Kandoli Ward-5, and Chandar Lok Colony.
A second QRT, led by SDM Harigiri will be comprising of EE Satish Nautiyal from Jal Sansthan, EE Dikshant Gupta from the Irrigation Department, and EE Rachna Payal of the Municipal Corporation. It has been assigned to inspect and respond to waterlogging issues in Touchwood School and Sahastradhara Road areas, from Araghar to Dharampur Chowk, Jogiwala, Ladpur, Ring Road under Raipur jurisdiction, Gurudwara Nalapani, Mayur Vihar, IT Park Pacific Golf, Bhaniawala, Vishnulok Colony, Vani Vihar, Haridwar Road, Thano Raipur, Rispana Pul, Vijay Darshani, Maliyan Mohalla Bazaar, Nehru Colony, Nawada Thapa Marg, Pragati Vihar Defence Colony, Miyawala Pul, Nehru Gram Ganesh Nagar, Chandramandi, Shivpuri Bhagat Singh Colony, Dev Vihar, Ganesh Enclave, and Bharat Singh Colony.
The third QRT, headed by SDM Kumkum Joshi, includes EE Satish Nautiyal from Jal Sansthan, EE Dikshant Gupta from the Irrigation Department, and Chief Sanitation Inspector Manish Daryal from the Municipal Corporation. This team will cover GMS Road, Neelkanth Colony Kedarpuram, Mothrowala, Old Bypass Chowk Haridwar Road, Drona Puri Colony, Bhagirathi Puram Banjarawala, Rose Valley Enclave, PV Banjarawala, Panchayat Bhawan Banjarawala, Shimla Bypass Tiraaha near ISBT, Anar Wala Guchu Pani, Balliwala, Santosh Nagar, Kargi Grant, THDC Colony, Aastha Enclave, Tea Estate Banjarawala, Turner Road, Gokul Kunj Smriti Nagar Premnagar, and Sanjay Colony.
The District Magistrate has instructed all officials involved in the QRTs to promptly address any obstruction or blockage discovered in drainage systems within their allocated zones. Additionally, they have been directed to physically verify the cleanliness status of drains and nalas to ensure effective drainage and avert water stagnation during the monsoon season.
