CM for policy to develop U’khand as Wedding Destination

Dehradun, 18 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the Tourism Department to formulate a policy within four weeks to develop Uttarakhand as a prime wedding destination. The CM was chairing the third meeting of the Uttarakhand Investment & Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) here today. During the meeting, he also emphasised on expediting arrangements for night landing of aircrafts at Dehradun and Pantnagar airports. He also called for rapid action on implementing plans for developing two new cities, the Ganga and Sharda Corridor Development, and Knowledge City in Dakpathar, with a formal start by June 2026. The UIIDB meeting was held at the Secretariat here today.
The CM stressed on the need to plan and implement development schemes with a long-term perspective, considering the state’s requirements for the next 25 years. He insisted that, to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of developing India by 2047, Uttarakhand must work on short-term, near-term, and long-term plans. He emphasised the importance of incorporating suggestions from public representatives and stakeholders and assured regular reviews of these projects.

Dhami insisting on rapid development of infrastructure to establish Uttarakhand as a prime wedding destination, urging cooperation from wedding planners and hotel groups for promotion. He directed the formulation of a clear action plan for developing two new cities with comprehensive basic facilities. He added that special attention should also be paid to developing places significant for tourism and pilgrimage, considering the mythological and spiritual importance of the Ganga and Sharda Corridor.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the objectives of the UIIDB must yield visible results on the ground soon.
