Dhami vows support for cultural renaissance at Sparsh Himalaya Mahotsav in Lekhak Gaon

Dehradun, 5 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the closing session of the Sparsh Himalaya Mahotsav-2025 at Lekhak Gaon in Thano village here, today, as part of the State’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.

On the occasion, the CM offered prayers at the local temple in Lekhak Gaon, seeking peace and prosperity for Uttarakhand. Paying tribute to all activists of the statehood movement, he observed that the concept of Lekhak Gaon represents the values that shape society and guide future generations to build a meaningful future while remaining rooted in tradition. He described the festival as the beginning of a new creative journey for the state.

The Chief Minister reiterated the State Government’s commitment to preserving and promoting literature and culture. He said that distinguished litterateurs are being honoured with the Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman, and financial assistance is being extended to writers for the publication of works in various languages. Eminent literary figures are also being recognised with the Sahitya Bhushan and Lifetime Achievement Awards, with prize money of up to Rs 5 lakh. He stated that the government is organising competitions and programmes to encourage youth participation in literary pursuits and emphasised that the administration is working with a Sankalp that is ‘Vikalp Rahit’ to make Uttarakhand the leading State in the country. He expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of writers, artists, scholars, and cultural practitioners, this resolve will certainly be fulfilled.

Highlighting the significance of the Silver Jubilee year, the Chief Minister noted that President Droupadi Murmu addressed a special session of the Uttarakhand Assembly, and informed those present that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the State on 9 November to mark Foundation Day. He asserted that, in a culturally rich state like Uttarakhand, Lekhak Gaon is not only nurturing local talent but is also placing the state on the global literary map. He expressed hope that Lekhak Gaon will serve as a bridge between India’s ancient traditions and modern perspectives in the years to come.

Among those present at the event were former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, former Defence Secretary Yogendra Narain, Lieutenant General Anil Kumar Bhatt (Retd), Padma Shri awardee Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Vidushi Nishank, and other dignitaries.
