Dehradun, 3 Jan: Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat will represent Uttarakhand at the National Scouts Guides Jamboree organised in Pali, Rajasthan. Along with him, more than 500 scouts-guides, rover-rangers and departmental officers from the state will also participate.
The 18th National Scout Guides Jamboree will be inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu and concluded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This programme is being organised from 4 to 10 January on the theme of ‘Progress with Peace’.
Before leaving for Rajasthan, Dhan Singh Rawat stated that about 35,000 Scouts and Guides from all over the country would participate in the Jamboree. More than 500 Scouts, Guides, Rover Rangers and departmental officers would also participate from Uttarakhand. Apart from this, scout-guides and students from many countries including Malaysia, Singapore, UAE, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives are also scheduled to participate in the Jamboree.
Rawat added that all facilities have been made available for Scouts and Guides in Jamburi Village established in a 9 sq km area. Different types of activities will be organised by Scouts and Guides at the Jamboree, as well as individual and group competitions. They would also receive their grades. The competitions will include Rock Climbing, Boating, Archery, Paragliding, Drawing, Painting, as also March Pasts, Colour Party, Cultural Programmes, Food Plaza, Gate Construction, Skilorama, Ham Radio and Pioneering Project. Apart from this, air shows would also be organised by the Air Force, while a special display of the Camel Festival would be organised by the BSF.
