Dehradun, 22 Aug: The Doon Girls’ School hosted the 14th Inter School English Elocution event today, featuring the participation of 26 esteemed schools from Mussoorie and Dehradun. This event, which encompassed both individual and group categories, provided a platform for young speakers to showcase their eloquence and passion for poetry recitation in English.
The English Elocution competition at The Doon Girls’ School is for fostering linguistic proficiency, expressive communication, and cultural appreciation. As a landmark event in the academic calendar, this competition plays a pivotal role in promoting the beauty and significance of the English poem.
As many as 26 schools participated in the Individual and Group Elocution categories. The topics included exploring the Fairy World, Adventure and Recreation.
Experts in English language and literature Poonam Jaiswal (former HoD, English, Unison School), Ashford Lyonette (English Department, Selaqui
International School), Dr Aloka Niyogi (noted Educationist, Motivational Speaker and Freelance writer) and Sameer Chopra (English Department, The Doon School) were the judges.
The English elocution competition witnessed the presence of Monisha Datta, Director, Planning and Strategy, and Principal Sumali Devgan.
In the Overall Tally, the First Position went to Doon International School (City Campus) with 429 points; the Second Position to St Joseph’s Academy, 427 points, and the Third Position to The Oasis with 418 points.
