Symposium on Judicial Service organised at Uttaranchal University

Dehradun, 22 Aug: Alumni who have become judges in the North-East after studying at Law College Dehradun of Uttaranchal University were given a grand welcome at the university, today. On this occasion, a seminar was also organised on the subject, ‘Grit and Glory of Judicial Service’. University President Jitendra Joshi was present as the Chief Guest on this occasion. More than 400 students who had come to Dehradun to study law from different states of the country participated in the programme.

Farhad Islam, who secured first position in Tripura Judicial Service Examination, and Ragini Sarma who is a judge in Assam, were welcomed by University President Jitendra Joshi with a bouquet and a memento. He expressed pride that our students are contributing to the judicial services of different states of the country. He appealed to the students of the university to benefit from the experiences of these alumni.

Both the judicial officers interacted with the students in two sessions. In the first session, the grit and glory of judicial service was discussed, while in the second session, students were given tips for success in judicial services.

Farhad Islam said that students looking for their future in judicial service have to make their road map from the very first day. While studying the subjects taught in college, notes of important topics should also be made. If the student gets a mentor in the form of a teacher, then the path becomes even easier.

In her presentation, Ragini Sarma discussed the glory of judicial service, qualification and syllabus of various states. She said that along with books, Bare Acts should be read considering it as one’s religious book.

The programme was conducted under the aegis of the Competition Cell of the college. At the end of the seminar, an open session was organised in which the students satisfied their curiosity.

Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Principal Prof Poonam Rawat, Sachin Kumar, Dr Anil Dixit, Dr V Bhuvaneshwari, Abhiranjan Dixit, Priyadarshini Tiwari along with a large number of students were present on the occasion.
