Dehradun, 5 Oct: It may be recalled that District Magistrate Dehradun, Savin Bansal had heard public complaints during the Janata Darshan programme held at the District Collectorate here when a complainant alleged that illegal plotting was being carried out on Nagar Nigam’s land located in Mauja Adhoiwala.

In response, Savin Bansal constituted a joint team of Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Nagar Nigam Gopal Ram Binwal, SDM Sadar Kumkum Joshi, Naib Tehsildar Sadar, Naib Tehsildar Municipal Corporation and has directed a detailed investigation into the allegations. He has further directed that the field investigation be conducted in the presence of the parties involved and submit the report within next 3 days.

In compliance to the instructions of the District Magistrate, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal, Sub-District Magistrate Sadar Kumkum Joshi along with the team of Revenue officials and officials from Nagar Nigam, inspected the said site in the presence of the parties concerned. In the preliminary and during the field inspection, prima facie the ownership of the disputed land has been found to be confirmed to be that of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (Nagar Nigam).  Thereafter, the DM has directed the officials of the Nagar Nigam to launch the process to take back the possession by the Municipal Corporation of the plot concerned.

It may be recalled that in Uttarakhand and particularly in Dehradun, a large area owned by either Nagar Nigam or by the district or the state administration is illegally encroached. Among those involved in the encroachment also include certain big builders. Nagar Nigam officials allegedly often look the other way when the encroachment is underway in many cases.
