Haridwar, 22 Jun: District Magistrate, Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, chaired a joint meeting of district administration and Senior Superintendent of Police Ajai Singh with the office bearers of Shri Ganga Sabha, Sidcul Association and Vyapar Mandal on Thursday, at Fair Control Building (C.C.R.) in view of the successful completion of upcoming Kawad.
In the meeting, Vikas Tiwari, General Secretary Dharamshala told that there are about 550 Dharamshalas in Haridwar equipped with CCTVs. He suggested that the form of Kawad is constantly changing. Some kawadiyas suddenly start coming from small roads and streets, due to which chaos spreads.
During the meeting SSP instructed the officers to prepare a map of such routes and make arrangements accordingly. Vikas Tiwari also suggested that the time of water supply during Kawad should also be increased so that the devotees do not face any water problems. In this regard, instructions were given to the officers to take action on the suggestion. Nitin Gautam, President of Sri Ganga Sabha, drew attention to various problems-security, etc. in the Har Ki Pauri area during the Kawad fair.
Harendra Garg, Chairman Sidcul Association, presented his side in the meeting regarding the arrangement to ensure that there is no problem in the movement of goods through vehicles in the Sidcul area. On this, the officials said that evening time has been kept for the movement of vehicles in the Sidcul area. Apart from this, arrangements for special passes will also be made during Kawad. Swami Lalitanand said that some electric poles are standing around Saptarishi, which creates difficulty in commuting and requested to remove the vehicles which are parked without parking around Bharat Mata Temple and Saptarishi.
Sunil Sethi, District President of the Board of Trade, gave suggestions regarding the arrangement of the underpass built near Bhimgoda, Sarvanand Ghat, keeping the electricity and water system in place, to avoid inconvenience to the traders. Kishan Bajaj said in the meeting that Subhash Ghat, etc. are very sensitive from the point of view of the Kawad fair. He suggested installing a railing on the elephant bridge, to catch stray animals from Kushavart Ghat. On this, the police officials gave information regarding the arrangements made during the last days of the week, etc.
Regarding the road leading from Hari Road Tirahe to Sarai, the President of Jwalapur Vyapar Mandal informed that this road is broken. On this, the officials said that the repair of this road would be done in two-three days. The President of Kankhal Vyapar Mandal said that the parking of Ram Krishna Mission and crematorium is being done on the road. On this, the District Magistrate instructed the officers to visit these areas once and make sure to solve them. The President of Bahadarabad Vyapar Mandal suggested making parking in BHEL during Kawad Mela.
In the meeting, Gaurav Gupta suggested that the electrical fittings in the Bairagi camp should be underground and the toilets should be installed at a place where they can be properly cleaned.
Officials told in the meeting that the Kawad should not be more than 12 feet high, businessmen should not sell any such material which can cause harm to anyone and Kawadiyas were requested to keep their identity cards with them. On this occasion, all the office bearers present in the meeting assured to extend their full cooperation in the Kawad Mela.
