Dehradun, 7 Jan: District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal expressed deep displeasure over the sluggish progress of the Green Building project under the Smart City Limited initiative during a detailed review meeting held at the Rishiparna Auditorium here today. Taking a stern view of the undue delays in the project, the DM reprimanded the project officials and issued clear directives to ensure that the construction of the Green Building is completed by the June 2026 deadline at all costs.

The DM also instructed the Smart City Limited officials to submit a PERT (Programme Evaluation and Review Technique) chart, along with a revised material and labour plan, by today itself. Issuing a strict warning, he mandated that work must be conducted in double shifts based on the revised requirements outlined in the updated PERT chart. Bansal warned that, should the construction fail to meet the stipulated deadline, rigorous departmental action would be initiated, for which the officials concerned would be held entirely responsible.

Emphasising on the standard of construction, the DM insisted that all the works must adhere to high-quality benchmarks. Furthermore, Bansal directed that the use of environment-friendly techniques and strict compliance with worker safety standards be ensured. He ordered the relevant officers to provide weekly progress reports to the district administration without fail to facilitate regular monitoring of the site.

During the review of manpower availability with respect to the project, the officials from the executing agency, CPWD, informed the meeting that only 125 workers are currently engaged against the requirement of 175. They further reported that approximately 36 per cent of the Green Building construction has been completed to date, with a progress of only 10 per cent recorded over the past month.

Reacting to these figures with annoyance, the DM directed an immediate increase in the number of workers and a switchover to double shifts to accelerate the construction speed. He stated in no uncertain terms that the project must not exceed the June 2026 timeline and called for seamless coordination between all involved departments. Among those present at the meeting were Additional Chief Executive Officer Tirath Pal Singh, Chief Engineer, CPWD, Krishna Chamola from Smart City Limited, Chief Engineer Devendra Prakash, Finance Controller Saipali Rani, and other related officials from the executing agency, CPWD.
