CHAMOLI, 11 Jul: A tragic incident in Narayanbagar block of Chamoli district has cast a pall of grief over the Health department and the region. The medical officer in charge of the Primary Health Centre at Narayanbagar, Dr Naveen Dimri, lost his life on Saturday when a damaged security wall collapsed over him. The news of his death spread quickly, plunging the health fraternity and local residents into mourning.
According to information, Dr Dimri was inspecting the weakened wall behind the residential building near the hospital premises when it suddenly gave way, burying him under the debris. He sustained severe injuries and was immediately given first aid by hospital staff. Considering his critical condition, he was referred to a higher centre with the help of a 108 ambulance, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Dr Dimri had been serving at Narayanbagar PHC for a long time and was widely respected for his simplicity, affable nature and dedication to patients. The locals recall that he consistently provided health services under all circumstances and was held in high esteem by the community. Residents including Sanjay Kandari, BJP leader Kamlesh Sati and district panchayat member Surendra Kaneri expressed deep sorrow, saying the region has lost a sensitive and committed doctor who was always ready to serve patients with warmth and sincerity.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Gupta confirmed the incident, stating the loss of a colleague is irreparable for the Health department. Colleagues and residents alike remembered him as a dedicated, hardworking physician fully committed to public service, whose untimely demise has left a void difficult to fill.
