Dehradun, 20 Jul: Doon Police have arrested Amjad, the mastermind of Baba Amrik Singh gang, over involvement in several land related frauds. The arrests were made yesterday. It may also be recalled that Amjad Ali and his associates are wanted in a number of cases related to land frauds not only in Uttarakhand but in other states as well. They had non bailable arrest warrants issued against them. According to Dehradun Police arrests were made from UP and Haryana.
It may be recalled, plaintiff Govind Pundir had submitted a a written complaint at Rajpur police station on 21 March, 2024 that he does property dealing. He further stated that in August 2023, Amjad Ali, son of Yunus Ali, a permanent resident of House No 99, Kamleshpur, Chhutmalpur Dehradun Road and currently a resident of Johri village Sinaula Rajpur Dehradun, who earlier used to do welding work in Jakhan, met his elder brother Upendra Thapali along with a person named Adnan and claimed that a very famous Baba Amrik Singh of Budhadal Committee, Nanded in Maharashtra is looking for a large plot of land to build a school and ashram. Ali also claimed that the soil of the land to be purchased will have to be made available to Baba first because Baba checks the soil of the land to be purchased and only then buys the land. The plaintiff provided the soil of three lands to Amjad Ali as per his instructions. In the second week of August 2023, Amjad Ali again came to the plaintiff along with Adnan and said that the soil given by them has not been passed.
On 18 September, 2023, Amjad Ali, Ram Aggarwal, Sachin Garg alias Chhota Kana, Mukesh Garg alias Bada Kana, Sumit Bansal, Arjun Shekhawat, Ranveer, Adnan again came to see him in Purkul village, Dehradun and claimed that some farmers are selling their land in Kanral Haryana, whose soil has been passed by Baba, the plaintiff should pay earnest money for the said land so that they can sell it further to Baba. They also claimed that since they work for Baba, they cannot directly buy and sell the said land. They lured the plaintiff to become their partner and to earn huge profits in the sale and purchase of the said land. The plaintiff believed the above mentioned people and gave them about 15 crore rupees at different times. When the plaintiff reached Karnal, Haryana to get the land registered, the owner of the land Kiranpal and his associate Sukhram Pal informed him about his brother’s ill health and his admission in ICU. Thereafter the plaintiff met Baba Amrik Singh through his associates and was told by him that the registration would not be possible until all the three brothers come together. After some time, when the plaintiff got ready to go to Haryana for the second time to get the registration done, Kiranpal called him and informed that Income Tax and Police have caught Baba with the money and are demanding Rs 6 crore in return and was asked to pay Rs 3 crore himself and the plaintiff should arrange for the remaining three crore. They also threatened that if the money is not arranged then the matter will go to the Income Tax and all the money given earlier will be confiscated. Believing their words, the plaintiff made additional payments of Rs 3 crore from time to time, but even then the accused deceived the plaintiff by making various excuses while registering the property. When the plaintiff enquired about the details , he found that the money sent through the accounts of Sharad Garg and Sahil was indirectly received through a money transfer company and was sent to Sanjay Gupta, Sanjeev Garg, Ranveer and other gang members. It was learnt that the above accused have formed a gang and committed many such incidents in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttarakhand, etc.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was immediately registered in the Rajpur police station under the relevant sections and investigation was started. During the investigation of the case, it came to light that all the above accused involved in the fraud have a long criminal history. Many cases of fraud are registered against them in different states of the country. For the arrest of the accused in the said case, separate teams were formed by SSP Dehradun giving necessary guidelines and the teams were sent to Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and other possible places for the arrest of the accused. The teams so constituted continuously conducted raids at possible places to search for the accused but the accused were constantly evading their arrest, the police obtained non-bailable warrants from the Court against the accused Sanjay Gupta alias Ram Agarwal, Amjad Ali son of Yunus Ali, Sanjeev Kumar alias Sumit Bansal, and on the basis of manual police, the accused Amjad Ali wanted in the case was arrested from a numberless XUV 300 near the main highway in village Telpur police station Rampur, while the other accused Sardar Garg and Sahil were arrested after interrogation and collection of evidence yesterday. In the said case, 1 accused Mohamed Adnan was earlier arrested by Rajpur Police from Saharanpur on 14 July itself. During interrogation of the accused, the police team received important information regarding other accused, for whose arrest, the police is continuing raids in other states.
