Dehradun, 26 Apr: The Department of Japanese Studies, School of Languages of Doon University, organised an Educational cum Industrial visit to M/s Honda Motor Company Ltd., a Japanese manufacturing company, and M/s Pasona India Pvt Ltd, a placement and human resource company at Gurugram on 24 April.
Students of Undergraduate and Postgraduate programme were accompanied by faculty members Abhishek Thapliyal and Kanchan Kukreti of the Department.
At Honda Motor Co., the group was warmly welcomed by the staff, who provided detailed information about the company, the manufacturing process at the production site and quality standards maintained by it. The students were also briefed about the future job prospects in Japanese companies. The queries of the students were satisfied during the Question-Answer session and over the lunch arranged by the company.
The group also visited M/s Pasona India, where they were briefed about the services provided by the company, such as a providing support to Japanese companies in India and overseas and various internship programmes. The company representatives said that, at present, students with Japanese language skills along with IT knowledge are in high demand in the industry and can fetch better career opportunities in the field of tour and travel, hospitality, defence, IT, etc.
Deepika Bhatia, Head, In-charge, Department of Japanese Studies, expressed that such educational trips provide an opportunity to students to learn about the activities and developments taking place in the field of Japanese language. The visit to Japanese companies enhances the practical knowledge and boost confidence of students by experiencing the Japanese workplace ethics and manners, which are highly beneficial for their career and holistic growth in addition to their personality growth and development.
Vice Chancellor Prof Surekha Dangwal encouraged the students and faculties of the Japanese Department for organising such a programme and assured support for the same in future for the overall development and growth of the students of Japanese Department.
