Doon Varsity students excel at AIU National Debate

Dehradun, 2 Apr: The Cultural Debating Team, Vatsalya, of Doon University has once again showcased its prowess on a national platform. Sneha Kothiyal from the Department of Chemistry and Sanjana Juyal from the Department of Mass Communication and Media Studies secured the second prize individually and as a team at the AIU National Debate held in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.

The prestigious event, held from 28 March to 1 April, witnessed participation from twenty-seven qualified debating teams representing universities across eight zones nationwide. Sneha and Sanjana, who emerged victorious at the AIU 2024-North Zone, showcased exceptional talent and skill in debating on the topic, “UN is Losing its Relevance”, revealed just 24 hours prior to the event.

The duo from Doon University captivated the audience with their articulate arguments, compelling content, and persuasive abilities, earning accolades and admiration from spectators and judges alike.

Vice Chancellor Prof Surekha Dangwal commended the students for their outstanding achievement, praising their dedication and excellence and said, “I congratulate Team Vatsalya for their exceptional achievement and commend them for representing Doon University with grace, eloquence, and conviction on a national stage.”

Dr Chetana Pokhriyal, Coordinator, Cultural Committee, congratulated the team. The Cultural Committee reiterated the objective to reaffirm the commitment of providing the students with opportunities for holistic development and fostering a culture of excellence in academia and beyond.

Accompanied by Dr Manvendra Bartwal, Guest Faculty in Anthropology, as the Team Manager, Team Vatsalya’s triumph adds yet another feather to Doon University’s cap. With a total of 109 universities and 20,250 participants across various events, Doon University continues to uphold its reputation for academic excellence and extracurricular prowess.
