Doremon & Nobita fly in Graphic Era skies


DEHRADUN, 14 Jan: The sky over Graphic Era was painted with hundreds of colourful kites amid the music of ‘Udi Udi Jaye’ and ‘Dheel De Dheel De’, here, today. The occasion was the “Fly a Kite Fest” organised in the university on the occasion of Makar Sakranti. Students of Graphic Era University and Graphic Era Hill University participated in the competition with kites made in the shapes of huge eagles and cartoon characters like Doremon, Nobita, Benton and super heroes of Avengers.
Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era University, Prof Rakesh Sharma inaugurated the competition by flying the first kite. He said that events like this helped develop team spirit amongst the students. More than 200 teams of student participated in the competition. The Faculty and the students were seen flying kites and competing with each other enthusiastically. There was a huge participation by the girl students as well.
The team of B Tech (Mechanical) students Shubham Bakhuni and Hardik Parashar bagged the first position in the competition by flying their kite and saving it from others for more than three-and-a-half hours. The second position in the competition was clinched by the team of B Tech (CS) students, Dipesh Negi and Vishal Thakur. The award for the most creative kite was given to the team of Petroleum Engineering student Umesh Chandra and Mechanical Engineering student Jay Prakash for their 4 feet long Eagle shaped kite. Event Coordinator Sahib Sablok said that all the winners would be felicitated during the Republic Day celebrations of the university. Makar Sakranti was truly celebrated on the university campus.
