Dr Ambedkar worked for uplift of weaker sections: Gov

 DEHRADUN, 6 Dec: On the occasion of the Mahaparinirvana Diwas, today, of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Governor Baby Rani Maurya paid tribute before his portrait at a ceremony held in the Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

On the occasion, the Governor said that Dr Ambedkar, the Architect of the Constitution of India, was a great legal luminary, economist, educationist and social thinker. He dreamed of a harmonious society beyond any discrimination and lived on the same path throughout his life. Baba Saheb gave great power to Indian democracy in the form of the Constitution. He spent all his life working for the uplift of the weaker sections of society.

Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Swaraj Vidwan, while paying tributes to Baba Saheb, said that Dr Ambedkar had taken care of all the weaker sections of society. He was a true nationalist.

Keynote speaker at the programme, Member of the ONGC Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Association, Mr Baijnath said that Dr Ambedkar was known not just in India, but in the entire world. He contributed immensely to the creation of the new nation.

Members of the ONGC Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Association Deepak Kumar, Rajendra Raj, Jagmohan Kanojia, Poonam Singh and Dr Praveen Kumar were among those present at the programme.
