Dehradun, 1 Feb: It was once again a proud moment for Doonites when Dr Gaurav Luthra, Senior LASIK & Cataract Surgeon at Drishti Eye Institute, Dehradun was recently invited to the Phaco Festival 2020 held at Bangalore for Eye Surgeons, wherein hundreds of experienced Surgeons from India and abroad gathered to participate.
The highlight of the Conference was a Live 3D Surgery workshop held for the first time in India, where Dr Gaurav Luthra was invited to perform surgery on Challenging cases using 3D technology.
Dr Gaurav Luthra is among the First few Eye Surgeons in India trained in the Art of 3D Eye surgery. 3D surgery is a huge leap of technological advancement in the way eye surgery is generally performed by magnifying the minute part of the eye, which is viewed by the Surgeon on a 55″ monitor therefore eliminating the use of Microscope, but performing an Eye Surgery is a challenge itself, a very promising new method in treating sight threatening eye diseases such as Cataract & Retinal diseases. 3D eye surgery was first used at Drishti almost 6 months back for Cataract & Retina surgeries on the Ngenuity System and this time Dr Luthra operated using the latest Artevo System from Zeiss
Dr Gaurav Luthra, an experienced Cataract Surgeon, specializes in managing challenging & complicated cases of Cataract referred from neighboring cities, besides Paediatric Cataract surgery which requires special techniques. He is also amongst the few trained Surgeons in Laser surgery for Cataract besides use of new technology Intraocular lenses like Trifocal and Toric IOLs which potentially allows patients to get perfect reading and distance vision without the need for glasses. He is regularly invited as faculty for teaching Doctors and to perform Live surgeries at Conferences and Seminars of National & International levels.
