Dehradun, 2 Aug: Two pharmacies were found with poor management and legal violations, and were ordered to shut down immediately. Several other medical stores were found to have issues in maintaining medicine purchase and sale records, as well as in proper storage of medicines. These stores were given instructions to correct the issues and improve their practices.
On 2nd August 2025, a joint inspection of medical stores was carried out in different areas of Dehradun under the “Safe Drugs: Safe Life” campaign. This inspection was done on the directions of the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority and District Judge and Chairman of District Legal Services Authority, Prem Singh Khimal. The inspection was led by Seema Dungarakoti, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dehradun, along with officials from the Drug Department.
Medical stores located in Jakhan, Dilaram Chowk, Rajpur Road, and Ghantaghar were checked during this campaign. Drug Inspector Manendra Singh Rana, Constable Vinod Jagudi, and Nidhi Ratudi were also part of the inspection team.
During the inspection, several problems were found. Bali Chemist and Apollo Pharmacy, both in Jakhan, were found to have issues in maintaining their medicine purchase and sale records, as well as problems in medicine storage. These shops were given instructions to improve their practices.
Serious irregularities were found in Sadbhavna Pharmacy & Clinic in Jakhan and Life Care Pharmacy in Ghantaghar. Due to poor management and violations, both these shops were ordered to shut down immediately.
Other stores like Shiva Medical and Goodness Pharmacy were instructed to maintain cleanliness, keep refrigerator temperatures visible, and not sell medicines without a doctor’s prescription.
The District Legal Services Authority informed that such inspections are done every month. Stores with small issues are warned, but if major problems are found, strict action like stopping the sale of medicines or closing the shop is taken.
