Last year, about 64 percent of the youth got employment in various companies but this year, the target is much more than this. He emphasised that the target can be only achieved when every institute has good machinery, laboratories are equipped with high-tech equipment, hands-on training is strong, there are sufficient number of teachers, the curriculum is in accordance with the industries’ needs. All necessary facilities should be available for the students in the institutes.
The Technical Education Minister emphasised that the government is ready to provide quality education. The government is determined to run new courses in emerging fields as per the requirement of the industries. Government employment is not the only form of good employment, in the present people are running towards the private sector. They are oriented towards multi-national companies. Therefore, it is the endeavour of the state government to provide good employment in the private sector along with government jobs. Due to the efforts of the department, many companies from different sectors like IT sector, manufacturing sector, service sector, or health care sector are participating in the Employment Fair.
In the current academic session, out of a total 3550 students studying in the final year, 1726 students have registered for the Dehradun Employment Fair. Apart from this, 430 students who passed out last year also registered. Thus, a total of 2156 students have registered for employment. This year 648 students got employment through online placement cell, 382 through Kashipur Rozgar Mela and 607 from polytechnic level, thus a total of 1637 i.e. about 46 percent students have got employment whereas annual examinations have not been completed yet and students are getting offers for employment even before completing diploma.
There are at least 7608 vacancies in 58 companies whereas the number of students present are 2156 and the jobs are much more than this, it was stated. Uniyal expressed hope that no student would go disappointed from this job fair today. He also said that along with employment, efforts should be made for self-employment. Many youths of Uttarakhand have achieved excellent success in this field.
