DEHRADUN, 23 Aug: In a swift and coordinated response to a public grievance raised during the district administration’s hearing programme, authorities in Dehradun have dismantled an illegal encroachment obstructing a public road in Sirmour Kishan Nagar. The demolition drive was carried out under the supervision of Additional City Magistrate Apoorva Singh, following a directive issued by District Magistrate Sanvin Bansal.
The matter came to light when Pradeep, a resident of Sirmour Kishan Nagar, submitted a complaint during the final week of the public hearing initiative. He reported that his father, who was suffering from a serious medical condition, had faced severe difficulty in receiving emergency care as the medical ambulance was unable to access their residence due to a gate constructed with iron pipes across the public road. The obstruction not only delayed medical assistance but also highlighted the broader issue of unauthorised structures impeding public access in residential areas.
Taking cognisance of the urgency and gravity of the situation, District Magistrate Savin Bansal instructed the Additional City Commissioner, Police Circle Officer Sadar, and Additional City Magistrate to undertake joint action and remove the encroachment. In compliance with these orders, the Zebra Force, supported by male and female police personnel, officials from the Municipal Corporation, and the district administration team, reached the site and dismantled the encroaching gate that had been illegally erected on the public thoroughfare.
