Pauri, 19 Jun: The state government has taken major action following the tragic death of a contractual lineman due to electrocution while working on a power line in Waddakhal, Rikhanikhal block.
Acting swiftly on a complaint by MLA Dileep Singh Rawat, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today ordered the suspension of three officials.
Executive Engineer Vineet Kumar Saxena, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Chandramohan and Junior Engineer Shubham Kumar have been suspended with immediate effect. As per the officials, the move is aimed at enforcing safety standards across all work sites to prevent such accidents in future.
Commenting on the development, the CM stated firmly that negligence of this nature will not be tolerated. He directed that safety protocols be strictly followed during all electrical work, and that essential protective equipment, including helmets, gloves, safety belts, and insulated tools—must be made available at all job sites.
Dhami also instructed senior officials of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to provide a detailed report on the availability and distribution of safety gear to ground-level staff. He emphasised that ensuring the well-being of every employee is the top priority of the state government and that accountability will be enforced wherever lapses occur.
