DM reviews progress of SIR in Dehradun district

Dehradun, 19 Jun: District Magistrate and District Election Officer Ashish Chauhan chaired a meeting here today with political party representatives and the officials to review the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026. The meeting assessed the distribution of voter enumeration forms, digitisation work and the appointment of BLA-1 and BLA-2 by political parties.

Chauhan stressed that the revision programme must be conducted in a fair, transparent and error-free manner and he urged the political parties to cooperate actively and encourage voters to fill and submit forms on time. It was revealed that the BJP has appointed 1,847 BLA-2, the Indian National Congress 1,765 and CPI (M) 463 BLA-2 while other parties were requested to provide their lists.

According to the Election Commission’s schedule, BLOs are distributing enumeration forms door-to-door from 8 June to 7 July 2026. The draft electoral roll will be published on 14 July while after disposal of claims and objections, the final roll will be published on 15 September 2026. Out of 13,76,813 registered voters in the district, 13,52,297 have already received forms by 17 June, accounting for 98.22 per cent. Digitisation of 2,06,444 voters has also been completed.

Assembly-wise review showed Mussoorie with 99.83 per cent distribution and Chakrata with 99.46 per cent. A total of 1,881 BLOs are engaged in the campaign. Voters who have not received forms will be provided them through BLOs, and those not found at their addresses will be verified as per rules. Reasons for non-delivery will be recorded locally, with lists prepared of absent, shifted, deceased or duplicate entries.

Among those present at the meeting included Additional District Magistrate (Administration) KK Mishra, election officials, party representatives and departmental officers, including Chief Development Officer and Deputy District Election Officer Abhinav Shah, CPI(M) representative Anant Akash, BSP’s Satyendra Singh and Satendra Chopra, BJP’s Arvind Jain, Umesh Tiwari, Sandeep Mukherjee and Satyapal, AAP’s Chaudhary Ravindra Kumar and Ashok Semwal, and Assistant District Election Officer Narendra Devli.
