Dehradun, 3 Dec: More than six thousand delegates, including experts from over 40 countries, are expected to participate in the 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo-2024, scheduled to be held in Dehradun from 12 to 15 December. The event will feature discussions on popularising traditional medical systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. All the departments concerned, including the AYUSH department, are busy preparing for the conference at Parade Ground, Dehradun. With less than 10 days remaining, the preparations are being finalised to host this Expo.

Commenting on this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami observed that hosting the 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo-2024 in Dehradun is a matter of pride for Uttarakhand. He added that this event will particularly benefit AYUSH and other traditional drug manufacturers in the state, raising awareness regarding traditional medicines.

Due to the Himalayas and perennial rivers like the Ganga and Yamuna, Uttarakhand has since long been a significant destination for yoga practitioners and researchers of Ayurveda and other traditional medical systems. In a further boost to these activities, the ’10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo-2024′ is being organised by the World Ayurveda Foundation in Uttarakhand. This event will feature 20 internationally renowned speakers from 40 countries and over 150 speakers in various sessions. More than 900 papers based on traditional medical systems will be presented to over six thousand delegates. Additionally, to promote investment and trade in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, a Buyer-Seller Meet involving AYUSH Drugs Manufacturers will also be organised.

Additional Secretary, AYUSH, Vijay Jogdande shared that, in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, a free AYUSH clinic will be organised for the general public during the Expo at the Parade Ground. Free consultations will be provided on diabetes, women’s and child health, old age, neurology, oncology, and preventive cardiology. This event is expected to be a comprehensive fair of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, with an anticipated attendance of three lakh people from across the state.

It may be recalled that the World Ayurveda Congress is a platform of the World Ayurveda Foundation, with the main objective of promoting Ayurveda globally. The first World Ayurveda Congress was organised in 2002 in Kochi (Kerala) as an outreach programme. Subsequently, the World Ayurveda Congress has been organised in different states every two years, including conferences held in Pune in 2006, Jaipur in 2008, Bengaluru in 2010, in Bhopal in 2012, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi in 2014, Kolkata in 2016, and Ahmedabad (Gujarat) in 2018.
