Mussoorie, 3 Dec: Mussoorie International School, on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation and global communities, organised a grand function in its premises on the theme, “Empowering the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future”. The event was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, renowned para-athlete Kapil Parmar.
Born in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh and India’s first para-judo bronze medallist, Kapil Parmar shared the inspiring story of his life’s struggle and success. He registered a historic win in the -60 kg J1 weight category at the 2024 Paris Paralympics Games. Along with this, bronze medals are also included in the 2023 Birmingham World Games, gold in the 2019 Commonwealth Championships and 2023 Alexandria Grand Prix, and silver medal in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games. Kapil Parmar, while addressing the students, emphasised on the power of self-motivation and struggle. He shared his experiences of the difficulties in his life and how he overcame them. He explained how self-confidence, discipline, and positive thinking gave him the power to make the impossible possible. Giving a message to the students, he said that problems come in front of everyone in life, but the courage to face them shapes one’s true identity. “If you believe in yourself and work hard continuously, then no obstacle can stop you,” he emphasised. Kapil Parmar also emphasised on inclusiveness and equality. He highlighted the need to create a society for the Divyangjans, where every person gets equal opportunity and respect. He said an inclusive future is possible only when people change their attitude and encourage others.
Many students said that this experience was going to bring a new perspective in their lives. The Principal of Mussoorie International School thanked Kapil Parmar.
