DEHRADUN, 7 Jan: Regarding payment by the Private Sugar Mills to Sugarcane farmers, Finance Minister Prakash Pant met farmers at the Vidhan Sabha Meeting Hall, here, on Monday. He said that interests of farmers were the government’s priority.
It was said at the meeting that payment for sugarcane had been made till April of last year. The new sugarcane payments would be paid to the farmers by Uttam Sugar Mill on 15 January and Laksar Sugar Mill by 25 January. The situation would be reviewed after 25 January. A receiver had been appointed for Iqbalpur Sugar Mill, who is monitoring the process of payment of sugarcane after the sale of sugar.
The previous outstanding amount of Laksar Sugar Mill is Rs 42.76 crore and new outstanding is Rs 93.06 crore. The outstanding balance of Iqbalpur Sugar Mill is Rs 124.94 crore and the new outstanding is Rs 50.29 crore. The outstanding of Uttam Sugar Mill is Rs 44.85 crore and new outstanding is Rs 61.89 crore.
Sugarcane Commissioner Lalit Rayal, Additional Secretary Pradeep Rawat, etc., were present at the meeting.
