Mussoorie, 14 Apr: The Fire Department here paid tribute to firemen martyred in the performance of their duties on the occasion of Fire Service Day, here, today.
The fire department alerted the people about the dangers of fire and rescue methods with an awareness rally taken out from Mussoorie Fire Station to Landour Chowk. It appealed to people not to set fire in forest areas.
Mussoorie Fire Station Incharge Sarokar Singh said that, if the resources for firefighting have been increased, the challenges have also increased. It is very important to make people aware of fire incidents. People would also be trained to overcome small fires under a week-long Fire Service Week starting today. Fire Service Officer Surendra Mehar said that Fire Service employees have been provided with the latest Search and Rescue Training. At the same time, all fire stations have been computerised and put online. Apart from this, work is being done on people’s NOC, etc., through a single window system. He said that special training is being given from time to time by the disaster management department to the officers and soldiers of the Fire Service.
