Mussoorie, 8 Dec: On the third death anniversary of the country’s first CDS, General Bipin Rawat, a special havan was organised by the Pauri Garhwal Development Committee at the martyrs’ memorial in his memory.
On this occasion, people associated with various political and social organisations of Mussoorie paid tribute by offering flowers before a photograph of Bipin Rawat and remembered his contribution to the country. On this occasion, former Municipal Chairmen Manmohan Singh Mall and OP Uniyal said that the sacrifice and contribution of the first CDS of Indian service will always be remembered.
They recalled that General Bipin Rawat and his wife, along with other military officers, were martyred in a helicopter crash in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. His life was not just that of a military officer but of a true warrior and patriot. The life of one who gave a new direction to Indian security was an example of struggle, hard work and unmatched leadership.
General Rawat started his career in the Indian Army in 1978 with the Eleventh Gorkha Rifles. He served in many sensitive areas like Mizoram, Congo and Jammu and Kashmir. In view of his excellent leadership ability in the Indian Army, he was appointed as the Chief of the Indian Army in 2016. After this, on 1 January 2020, he became the first Chief of Defence Staff of India. General Bipin Rawat took many important steps towards improving coordination between the three branches of the Indian Armed Forces. Under his leadership, joint operations between the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force improved, which further strengthened the security of the country.
They said General Bipin Rawat’s life is an inspiration to all. His role was not just that of a military chief but that of a strategic leader who gave new dimensions to India’s security. His contribution can never be forgotten, and his name will always be written in golden letters in Indian military history.
On this occasion, Pandit Ramesh Chandra Navani, Satish Dhoundiyal, Surendra Rawat, Puran Juyal, Vimal Navani, Amit Bhatt, Manoj Rengwal, Gajendra, Anil, Nitin, Mohan Shahi, Sandeep Singh, Manoj Rawat, Manish Kukshal, Pandit Jakhmola, Sunita Telwal, Shashi Rawat, Meena Negi, Devendra Bisht, Manoj Rawat, Parvinder Rawat Pari, Lakhpat Rauthan, OP Uniyal, Manmohan Mall, Amit Gupta, Meera Saklani, Pushpa Padiyar, Bina Gunsola, Sushil Agarwal and many others were also present.
