Dehradun, 23 Apr: A district-level convergence committee meeting for the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) was held under the chairmanship of Chief Development Officer (CDO) Abhinav Shah, following directives issued in this regard by the District Magistrate. The District Social Welfare Officer, serving as the nodal officer for the scheme, informed the committee that 14 villages in the Dehradun district with a scheduled caste/tribe population exceeding 50 percent have been selected for development during the 2025-26 fiscal year. These include eight villages from the Chakrata development block, namely Lavdi, Bhunar, Kuna, Kota Taplad, Kandoi Bharam, Mask, Jogiyon, and Buralya; four villages from the Kalsi development block, comprising Surau, Kachta, Rupau, and Gharna; and two villages from the Vikasnagar development block, specifically Pasta and Dhalai. Under the provisions of the scheme, each of these selected villages will receive a grant of Rs 20 lakh specifically allocated for gap-filling infrastructure works.

The departments concerned were instructed to prioritise essential infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on drinking water and sanitation facilities, solid and liquid waste management systems, the construction and repair of toilets in schools and Anganwadi centres, the construction of Anganwadi buildings, the development of all-weather roads, and the installation of solar and street lights. Providing further insight into energy initiatives, the Senior Project Officer from UREDA stated that there is a concrete proposal to install 15 solar lights in each of the identified villages as part of the district plan for 2026-27.

During the meeting, CDO Shah directed all the departments to conduct regular reviews of the progress of these schemes to ensure that the established targets are met within the stipulated timeframes. The strongly emphasised on the need to enhance public awareness to ensure that the maximum number of eligible beneficiaries can avail themselves of the benefits provided by these government programmes.
