Haridwar, 16 Jun: The long-standing dispute between former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore and actress Urmila Sanawar has come to an end. In a press conference held in Saharanpur, Rathore openly accepted Urmila as his second wife, putting an end to nearly two years of controversy.
Urmila arrived at the event dressed like a bride, and both she and Rathore appeared happy. Rathore said, “Urmila’s love has won. There were misunderstandings between us, but they have now been resolved.” He also claimed that he had discussed the matter with his first wife and family, and they have accepted the situation.
However, this development raises legal questions. Uttarakhand has implemented the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), under which polygamy is prohibited. Whether any legal action will be taken in this case is still unclear.
Rathore explained that he had kept the relationship private earlier due to personal pressure, but now he proudly accepts Urmila as his wife. “She always stood by me, and her love was genuine,” he said.
Urmila also spoke to the media. She said that she had to fight for her rights, and now she has got justice. However, she will not live with Rathore immediately. She said that she still feels unsafe, as some people tried to take over her house. She has filed a police complaint about this in Sadar Bazar police station, Saharanpur.
Rathore confirmed that some women and men tried to forcibly take over Urmila’s house in Govind Nagar. He said that a full investigation will be done, and no one can now trouble Urmila. He ended by saying, “I am standing with my wife Urmila, and no one can harm her now.”
