Dehradun, 16 Jun: Two groups of transgenders clashed in Vishwanath Enclave on Sahastradhara Road, allegedly over the collection of “badhai”—a traditional monetary gift usually given during celebrations such as childbirths or weddings. BJP politician Rajni Rawat has filed a complaint in this matter at Raipur police station.

According to the minister, a group led by individuals identified as Sachin alias Nisha Chauhan, Sunil alias Aditi Sharma, Banni Rana alias Guru Shalu, Summu alias Karishma, and Tannu were allegedly misusing her name to collect badhai money forcibly from locals. She further claimed that the same individuals were threatening and harassing her supporters.

Rawat said the confrontation reached a tipping point on Saturday when she received a call from one of her supporters, informing her of continued extortion in her name. She arrived at the scene with members of her own group — Anchal, Jia, Priyanka, Sonam, Julie, and Karina. Upon confrontation, Rawat alleged, the rival group resorted to verbal abuse, physical assault, and even issued threats to her life.

“This isn’t the first time such incidents have occurred,” she stated in her complaint. “These individuals have repeatedly tried to defame me and create fear among people who support me.”

Meanwhile, the rival group has also submitted a written complaint to the Raipur police, claiming they too were assaulted during the altercation. Confirming the incident, Raipur Police Station in-charge Pradeep Negi stated, “We have received complaints from both sides. A formal case has been registered, and investigation is underway to verify all claims and take appropriate legal action.”
