Dehradun, 14 Apr: Former President Ram Nath Kovind reached Uttarakhand today on a three-day visit. On his arrival, he garlanded the statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar and garlanded it at a programme here today. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present on this occasion.
It may be recalled that former President Kovind is in Doon to attend several functions during his stay. One was when he garlanded the statue of Ambedkar in Dehradun Cantt.
He had last visited Dehradun as President in December 2021. It was then that he had unveiled the statue of Ambedkar in Dehradun Cantt. However, on his return to Delhi, he had spoken to the Governor, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) about the small size of the statue. Taking his observation seriously, Singh had got it replaced with a larger ne after speaking to the CEO Dehradun Cantt Board and also got the area renovated. Dehradun Cantt Board has renovated the area and has given a better look to the area where the statue is located.
After this, the Governor had shown the new form of this statue to the former President during his visit to Delhi who had expressed his satisfaction over the development. Tomorrow, the former president is scheduled to visit Mussoorie for two days where he will participate in programmes at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. The former President will stay at the Raj Bhavan during the visit. A state banquet has been organised in his honour.
