Dehradun, 14 Apr: Dehradun Police today claimed to have solved the daylight robbery case that took place on 11 April in Nehru Colony. This robbery was done in the house of the owners of a local school in C Block of Nehru Colony. The Police have arrested 5 miscreants, four of them belonging to Western UP and the fifth to Delhi.

The Police held a press briefing today and disclosed that jewellery and valuables worth Rs 8 lakhs, two vehicles used in the robbery and one pistol and a knife were recovered from the possession of the accused.

According to the police, the main mastermind of this robbery is a young man named Vipin, who had attended the school owned by the robbery victim and the complainant in this case, Sandeep Aggarwal. On the basis of a complaint filed by Sandeep Aggarwal, an FIR was registered against unknown accused at Police Station Nehru Colony under sections 124/23, 395, 452, 342, 412, 35 of the IPC.

According to the Police, during the interrogation, Vipin, the mastermind behind the robbery stated that he was visiting his cousin Guddu, who worked as an employee of St Annies School. He elicited detailed information from Guddu about the possible cash inflow into the Aggarwal household as it was the season for new admissions and the house location, etc. Later, along with his cousin Guddu, he conducted a recce of Aggarwal’s house for several days. He also involved three other accomplices in his plan. After trying for two days and returning empty handed because of several reasons such as heavy presence of construction workers in the street where the house is located, along with the others he finally managed to break into the house on 11 April around noon and found that only some women and an elderly man were present at that time. Vipin further informed the police that they had parked the bike some distance away from the house while using an Activa scooter to reach the house. All this while, Vikas Jaiswal, who had been included in the conspiracy only the day before the actual robbery, remained outside the house in order to alert them of any danger.

The robbers forced the women of the house on gun point to hand over to them cash and jewellery. However, before they could search the cupboards for more cash and valuables, one of the women present started shouting from the first floor of the house. They became nervous and ran away. The robbers stayed no more than 10 minutes inside the house.

He further said that after conducting the robbery, they went to Rishikesh where Vikas Jaiswal lives and handed him his share of the booty and returned to their native place in Muzaffarnagar. They tried to sell the jewellery to jewellers in Muzaffarnagar but the jewellers demanded proof of ownership of the jewellery, such as bills of purchase and, therefore, they had to return empty handed. While they were returning to their houses in Pachandakala village in Muzaffarnagar, they were intercepted by the Police and arrested. The 4 main accused arrested in the dacoity case are originally residents of Pachendakala village in Muzaffarnagar, while Vikas Jaiswal is a permanent resident of Delhi.

According to the Police, after the robbery was reported, the Dehradun Police on the directions of SSP Dehradun Daleep Singh Kunwar constituted 8 teams to workout the case. The teams searched more than 450 CCTV cameras in Dehradun, Haridwar, Bijnor and Muzaffarnagar. The footage revealed that the robbers had covered the registration number plates of both the vehicles with black tape.
