Health Secretary reviews health facilities for Char Dham Yatra at Badrinath

Chamoli, 14 Apr: Chamoli: After reaching Badrinath Dham, Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar today conducted on the-spot inspection of health facilities there for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. He said that this exercise has been undertaken to ensure special arrangements for the health of the pilgrims regarding Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib Yatra and to reduce the health risk to the passengers. Kumar urged the health department officials to ensure that the pilgrims do not face any kind of problem during the journey.

Kumar inspected the preparations of the health department for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra along the Char Dham Yatra route enroute Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib.

The Secretary directed the Chief Medical Officer to equip the health centres with all the necessary life-saving medicines, health equipment including oxygen etc to reduce the health risks in high Himalayan regions and other health facilities before the journey at all the centres. In the morning, at a distance of 38 kilometres ahead of Joshimath, there was a road blockade due to the Char Dham Yatra construction work. From there, after crossing the pedestrian route, Dr R Rajesh Kumar and the Chief Medical Officer, Chamoli, reached Badrinath Dham along with senior medical officials. Here, he inspected the primary health centres. The Health Secretary also inspected the under construction transit hostel and the 50-bed hospital under construction. Here Kumar expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the under-construction transit hostel and he directed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure completion at the earliest.

The secretary also reviewed the health services in Pandukeshwar and Govindghat and MRP located at Badrinath Dham and Hemkund Sahib. On reaching Govindghat Gurdwara Sahib detailed information was sought by him about the facilities there. He directed the CMO to ensure installation of all necessary equipment at the health facilities there.
