Uttarkashi, 22 Dec: A wave of mourning has swept across the Purola assembly constituency following the demise of former MLA Rajesh Juwantha. As news of his passing spread, a pall of gloom descended upon various political, social, and business organisations. It may be recalled that Junwantha was a very popular leader in the entire Purola belt and was known for his integrity and humble demeanour. He had served the Purola constituency as an MLA from 2007 to 2012, while he was a Congress leader.
During his tenure, he was widely recognised for his honest, simple, and affable personality. His easy accessibility and conduct with the general public remained highly regarded by the residents of the region. Rajesh Juwantha was in Congress in 2007 when he won the assembly elections but switched over to BJP soon after losing the 2012 Assembly election to Malchand of BJP. He never got the opportunity to contest assembly elections on the BJP ticket however.
He was the son of the late Barfiya Lal Juwantha, who had served as the Hill Development Minister in the then Mulayam Singh Yadav government in then undivided UP. Juwantha had been battling a prolonged illness for a considerable period before passing away today. His demise has triggered a wave of grief throughout the region, with political, social, and commercial bodies expressing their profound condolences.
Rajesh Juwantha hailed from a prominent political lineage. His father, Barfiya Lal Juwantha, had carried out significant work for development in the hills and had established a distinct identity of himself as a hard-working, pro-people leader. His mother, Shanti Juwantha was also an active politician who had served twice as the Chairperson of the Vikasnagar Municipal Council. Rajesh Juwantha is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. His sudden passing has left his family and the people of the region in a state of deep shock. Condolence meetings were organised at various locations to pray for the peace of the departed soul and to extend sympathies to the grieving family.
The current Purola MLA Durgeshwar Lal, Municipal Council Chairman Bihari Lal Shah, Vyapar Mandal President Ankit Panwar, and many other local leaders and dignitaries have expressed their heartfelt condolences. They remarked that the passing of Rajesh Juwantha is an irreparable loss to the region.
Gov condoles Rajesh Juwantha’s death
Dehradun, 22 Dec: The Governor, Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd), has expressed deep condolences on the demise of former MLA from the Purola Assembly Constituency, Rajesh Juwantha.
The Governor prayed to God for peace to the departed soul and extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
Dhami, Bhatt mourn passing away of former MLA Juwantha
Dehradun, 22 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the demise of former MLA Rajesh Juwantha from the Purola assembly constituency. He has prayed for peace to the departed soul and for strength to the bereaved family members and supporters to bear this sorrow.
BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt has also condoled passing away of Juwantha and has prayed for peace to the departed soul and for strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss. Bhatt described the passing away of Juwantha as a huge loss for the people of the Purola region.
