Raiwala, 3 Oct: A case of fraud has come to light in which a person cheated a minor boy and his family by promising selection in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The victim, 14-year-old Rajkumar Bobby Prajapat, was practicing cricket in his academy when he came in contact with a man named Jai Kishan Sharma alias Gagan Sharma.

According to the complaint filed by the family, the accused praised the boy’s cricket skills and claimed that his sister is a judge and his father a police commissioner. He assured the family that he could get the boy selected for the Under-19 IPL team. On this false promise, he allegedly took a total of Rs 11.13 lakh from the family through online transfers and cash payments.

The accused also made the family believe that the money was for things like an iPhone, gold chain, cricket kit, and supplements. Later, when the family started questioning him, he allegedly abused them and even threatened to kill the minor boy.

The money was transferred into the account of a man named Amir, who was introduced as the accused’s driver. Police sources said that the accused may have cheated other youths in a similar way earlier also. Raiwala police have begun looking into the matter.
