Dehradun/Haldwani, 8 Oct: Today was the day for some major action on the corruption related to recruitment scams. On the basis of the investigation report of the Vigilance Department, the police today registered a case against 12 people, including copying mafia Hakam Singh and Chandan Manral. It may be recalled that in the year 2015-16, 339 sub-inspectors were recruited in Uttarakhand Police. Of the total number of the SIs recruited, 129 candidates were from Kumaon and 210 from Garhwal. Yesterday, itself, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had granted permission to the Vigilance Department to register cases against the accused in the Inspector Recruitment scam.
After which Vigilance has registered a case against 12 people, including two officers of GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, under different sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act at Haldwani Sector Police Station. They are the current Dean of the College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Narendra Singh Jadaun, and former Assistant Establishment Officer Dinesh Chandra Joshi, besides copying mafia Hakam Singh, Chandan Manral, Kendra Pal, Sadiq Moosa, Rupesh Jaiswal, Rajesh Kumar Chauhan. A case has also been registered against Sanjeev Kumar Chauhan, Rajesh Pal, Vipin Bihari, Nitish Gupta. In this case, SP Vigilance Prahlad Narayan Meena has claimed that the accused will not be spared and evidences other than related to OMR manipulation were also being gathered.
It may be recalled that though, indications are available that the OMR sheets related to this recruitment had been tampered with at Pantnagar University which had conducted this examination, the OMR sheets were found missing from office. Hence, the Vigilance will have to build its case based on other evidences.
