By Our Staff Reporter
Dehradun, 8 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a lot has changed in the revenue police areas in recent years. Crimes had increased and need was being felt that revenue police controlled areas be handed over to regular police. Dhami said that the government would hand over these areas to the regular police in a phased manner. The Chief Minister was interacting with the media persons at the State Secretariat today. On the question of the preparation of handing over the hill areas of the state to the regular police, he said that a lot of the area of the state was under the revenue police, and the situation has changed a lot in these areas in the past few years.
He said that the roads have been built. Tourism activities have increased. The government was deliberating on this issue for a long time. All aspects related to this have been discussed. He said that the revenue areas where tourism has increased, roads have been built, infrastructure facilities have increased and people’s movement has increased sharply, would be handed over to regular police in a phased manner.
It may be recalled that in a recent meeting of the Home Department, the CM had instructed the Chief Secretary to take action in this regard. The Chief Secretary has sought proposals from all the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police for those revenue areas which can be handed over to the regular police.
