DEHRADUN, 3 Sep: The 5th Convocation of Forest Research Institute (FRI) Deemed to be University will take place on 7 September in its Convocation Hall. Union Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar will be the Chief Guest. Siddhanta Das, Director General of Forests and Special Secretary Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change will be the Special Guest. Dr SC Gairola, Chancellor, FRI Deemed to be University, and Director General, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, will preside over the function. AS Rawat, Vice- Chancellor, FRI Deemed to be University and Director, Forest Research Institute, will present the detailed report of the University. According to Dr HS Ginwal, Dean (Academic), the 5th Convocation, like the previous four ceremonies, will bring the entire University together to witness the conferring of degrees on individuals from across the academic and research disciplines. Dr AK Tripathi, Registrar, FRI University, states that altogether 62 PhD degrees in various disciplines of Forestry and 253 Masters degrees in Forestry, Wood Science & Technology, Environment Management and Cellulose and Paper Technology will be conferred during the convocation. He further states that, in total, 9 outstanding performers in various courses will be awarded Gold Medals. Over 500 candidates and guests will be present on this festive occasion. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries attending the function will also address the gathering.
