DEHRADUN, 3 Aug: It was a rainy morning with a difference at the UPES School of Business. Instead of the usual theoretical class, the new batch of MBA students got an incredible opportunity to engage with Alok Joshi of Oil & Gas, an esteemed leadership coach and communications specialist, for a thought-provoking session on “Campus to Corporate”. With over three decades of experience across corporates and countries in cross-cultural leadership, his insights helped the young minds reflect deeply on the nuances of communication styles, personal branding, and the shift in mindset required to thrive in global corporate ecosystems.
Through real-world examples and interactive discussion, Joshi highlighted how small communication missteps in a cross-cultural environment can create massive misunderstandings—and how self-awareness, empathy, and adaptability are key to overcoming them. It was an eye-opening journey from student mindset to corporate readiness. Prof Promod Painuly, senior faculty was instrumental in organizing this impactful session. Educational institutions need to supplement classroom training with such sessions through eminent experienced corporate leaders like Alok Joshi to bridge theory with practical readiness and prepare young students for what lies ahead in the fiercely competitive real corporate world.
