New Delhi, 29 Jan: Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi, participated today in a two-day National Conference with Labour Ministers and Secretaries of various states and Union Territories, held under the chairmanship of Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Youth Affairs, and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. Joshi represented the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, at this significant event in New Delhi.
The conference focused on various important issues, including labour reforms, social security measures for the workforce, improving employment opportunities through the National Career Service (NCS) portal and Model Career Centres (MCCs), facilitating reforms in employment generation, and promoting industry while safeguarding workers’ interests.
Joshi expressed his happiness and shared that, under the guidance of the Central Government, Uttarakhand has implemented several developmental reforms in its labour policies over the past 10 years. These reforms have promoted ease of doing business and provided a better working environment for the state’s workforce. He highlighted that women workers in factories are now allowed to work in night shifts (from 7 PM to 6 AM), with provisions to ensure their safety and prevent incidents of sexual harassment. This change has increased employment opportunities for female workers and made it easier for businesses to hire them.
Joshi further mentioned that Uttarakhand is always committed to the growth of workers, traders, and all small and medium entrepreneurs. He also expressed gratitude to CM Dhami and emphasised that under his leadership, the state remains committed to development, with a focus on policy decisions that will drive Uttarakhand’s multifaceted progress. He stated that the insights and discussions from this two-day conference will surely benefit workers and entrepreneurs, both large and small, in the country and the state.
The meeting was attended by Labour Ministers and senior officials from several states and Union Territories.
